Top Health and Fitness Apps in the Middle East for Q2 2021

The second quarter of 2021 saw significant activity in the health and fitness app sector across the Middle East. Based on Sensor Tower data, here’s an overview of the performance of the top 5 apps in this category.

صحتي | Sehhaty, published by Lean, experienced fluctuating downloads, peaking at 447K in the first week of April but later declining to 172K by mid-June. Active user numbers showed a similar trend, with a high of 2.9M in early April, dropping to 1.4M by mid-June, before climbing back to 2M at the end of the quarter.

Tawakkalna Emergency, from the National Information Center, maintained relatively stable weekly downloads, ranging between 121K and 186K. The app's active user count remained consistently high, starting at 4.3M at the end of March and reaching 4.6M by the end of June.

Sweatcoin Walking Step Counter, published by Sweatco Ltd, saw a dramatic increase in downloads, from 1.5K at the start of the quarter to over 528K by the end of June. Revenue followed a similar upward trajectory, peaking at approximately $2.9K in the last week of June. Active users also surged, from 43.8K in late March to 675K by the end of the quarter.

Tabaud (COVID-19 KSA), another app by the National Information Center, experienced steady download numbers, fluctuating between 66K and 131K. Active users ranged from 1M to 1.17M throughout the quarter, with a slight increase towards the end.

Kompanion: At Home Workouts, published by Alivex, had a notable revenue increase, peaking at around $11.6K in early June. Downloads, however, showed a declining trend, from 62K at the end of March to 15K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this trend, decreasing from 53.7K to 22.3K over the same period.
